Comedian and presenter Bill Bailey has marked the memory of his late friend Sean Lock with a heartstring-pulling post.

Former Strictly winner Bill shared a cockle-warming old photo of the pair mucking around while on a country walk.

The musician and actor wrote on Twitter about the much-loved star who died in August 2021 from cancer: "Some days I still can't quite believe he's gone. Today is one of those days."

He added: "Miss you Sean old pal."

Fans flocked to Twitter to send love to Bill and his buddy.

"He was incredible. I first saw him when he joined you in the Rubber Bishops at Edinburgh. Funniest night ever," shared a fan.

Bailey replied: "Blimey that’s a memory. Thanks for that. One of my fondest also."

"He was a rare talent. A comic who not just made you laugh, but genuinely laugh out loud. He is greatly missed," wrote another user.

"An absolute legend," praised a third.

Last summer, Bill raised over £100,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of Sean with a 100-mile charity walk alongside Lee Mack and Sean's nearest and dearest, starting in Bude, Cornwall on August 3 and finishing in Combe Martin, Devon.

Bailey said about the public's kind words and generosity: "We're all a bit done in.

"I have just been knocked out by the number of people who have come up to me, handed me money in the street just offering donations."

Friend and fellow comedian Harry Hill previously told The Guardian about Sean's impeccable talent. He said: "At his best, Sean reminded us all what we loved about a great gag and why we got into comedy in the first place.

"That's why he was so often called 'the comedian's comedian'. He took his illness in typically dry style. I heard he was in a hospice for a bit of a rest. I called him up. 'Wow!' I said. 'A hospice, what's that like?' 'It's OK,' he said, '… and the sex is amazing'."
