Netflix shares update on the future of The Night Agent

The first season of The Night Agent only premiered on Netflix last week, but a decision has already been made regarding the future of the show.

The drama - which landed on 23rd March - follows low-level FBI Agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), who works in the basement of the White House, whose only responsibility is to man a phone that never rings... until it does! He is then thrown into a vast conspiracy about a mole at the highest levels of the United States government. To save the nation, Peter plunges into a desperate hunt for the traitor, while working with a young woman, Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan), whose life has been turned upside down.

The ten-episode season is already a big hit. Deadline reports that The Night Trailer scored a whopping 168.7m hours viewed in its first few days on the streamer. That apparently makes it the third-best season one premiere week for any Netflix original. 

The show, created by Shawn Ryan and based on the novel of the same name by Matthew Quirk, popped up in the Top 10 of an impressive 93 countries.

It’s unsurprising, therefore, that Netflix has announced that the political conspiracy action-thriller will get a second season.

We couldn’t be any prouder or more excited to get cracking on Season 2 to share the further adventures of Night Action with our newfound fans.”

The first season of The Night Agent is available to stream now on Netflix.
