Virgin Radio’s own Graham Norton will host Prime Video’s very first Irish original series, called LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland.

10 of Ireland’s most sought-after comedy stars will be brought together to make each other laugh, but they must not crack a smile in order to win and the last person smiling!

Bringing out everything in the comedy tool box, the comedians will do their best to force a smile on their competitors, but will also be some big-name celebrities to impress too.

Whoever can last without so much as a smirk as the clock runs down will be crowned the very first winner of LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland.

The six-part Prime Video comedy format will film this spring in Dublin, and will launch exclusively on Prime Video worldwide in 2024

The format is based on the Japanese series called Documental, where 10 comedians bet their own money in an “anything-goes battle of laughter behind closed doors”. Local versions also take place in Mexico, France, Spain and Canada to name a few. Comedian turned actress Rebel Wilson hosted the Australian version.

Speaking in a statement announcing the news, LOL host Graham said: “I'm thrilled to be the host for the first Irish Original, LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland on Prime Video, and to be working on home ground for the first time in many, many years.

“I'm so proud of our comedy culture and it's wonderful to have a platform to showcase Irish talent to a global audience. I can't wait to see what our comedy masterminds do to get the laughter going."

Dan Grabiner, head of Originals for UK & Northern Europe for Amazon Studios, added: “Graham Norton and Last One Laughing is a match made in heaven.

“Ireland is home to world-class comedy and a booming television scene; we can’t wait to celebrate and be part of that with our first Irish Original production.”

While we await to see our Graham on LOL, the Virgin Radio weekend host will be heading to Liverpool to present the Grand Finale of Eurovision in May

He’ll be joined by Ukrainian singer and composer Juliana Sanina, Emmy Award-winning actress Hannah Waddingham and TV presenter and pop star Alesha Dixon when the international singing competition hits the city on 13th May.

As usual, Graham (who has been commentating on the Contest for the UK since 2009) will be providing hilarious commentary alongside Mel Giedroyc during the final, with Ukrainian broadcaster Timur Miroshnychenko appearing as the Eurovision Correspondent in Liverpool and giving live insights from Ukraine’s commentary box in the Arena.

LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland will air in 2024.
