A new series about Boris Becker is about to land on Apple TV+, taking a look at the tennis star’s triumphs on the court and his tumultuous life off it.

Boom Boom! The World vs Boris Becker premiers this Friday (7th April), and is in two parts. The first looks at the tennis star’s heroics on the court, including his victories and rivalries with other legends such as Andre Agassi, Stefan Edberg and Ivan Lendl.

The second part of the docco steps off the tennis court and focuses on his divorces, paternity battles and jail-time for tax evasion.

An official synopsis for the documentary says: “Triumph. Disaster. Everything in between. From the youngest ever Wimbledon champion at age 17, to a man convicted of fraud, the life of Boris Becker is anything but ordinary. Winning an epic 49 career titles including six Grand Slams and an Olympic gold medal, Becker’s rockstar lifestyle off the court hit headlines just as much as his victories."

The two-parter includes personal interviews with the tennis star, as well as an exclusive conversation with the champion the week of his sentencing.

There will also be sit-downs with John McEnroe, Bjorn Borg, Novak Djokovic, Mats Wilander and Michael Stich and other icons of the game.

The documentary is directed by Alex Gibney, and produced by Searching for Sugar Man’s John Battsek.

Speaking about the documentary at a Berlin press conference, Becker said (via Variety): “I’m the last person to complain about my life. I’m 55 years old and I’m very proud of the things that I’ve done. But I’ve made mistakes.”

He added: “I’ve paid a heavy price for some of the things I did in my past. Today I’m a bit better for it. Hopefully a bit smarter. Maybe a bit more humble.”

Boom! Boom! The World vs Boris Becker premieres on Apple TV+ on 7th April.
