ITV have finally announced a start date for the I’m a Celebrity South Africa special and we don’t have long to wait.

The special will see some of the most memorable contestants from the last 20 years of the reality show, return for more.

After the official I’m a Celebrity…South Africa line-up was announced last month, it has now been confirmed the show will premiere at 9pm on Monday 24th April 2023 on ITV1 and ITVX.

Although it won’t stray too far away from the original format, the all-star series has been pre-recorded instead of being broadcast live and as a result, there will be a “brutal” twist in how contestants are eliminated from the show.

Instead of being put to a public vote, the celebs will have to go head-to-head in terrifying trials, with the loser being knocked out until only one person is left to be crowned Legend of the Savanna.

As previously mentioned, the celebrities flying out to South Africa include some of the most infamous and beloved contestants to appear on the hit ITV show.

Boxer Amir Khan, Happy Mondays’ Sean Ryder and Olympic athlete Fatima Whitbread will be joining the line up, along with TV star Carol Vorderman and soap actress Helen Flanagan and many more.

Ant and Dec will, of course, also be back to oversee everything.

As usual, it seems there will be some later comers to the South African Savanna too after a teaser trailer for the show hinted there were three celebrities yet to be announced.

In the clip, Ant and Dec are on safari and at one point, pull out a postcard featuring the formerly announced celebrities alongside three question marks.

Of course, fans had some ideas about who could be joining, including former King of the Jungle Joe Swash.

I'm a Celebrity...South Africa will premiere at 9pm on Monday 24th April 2023 on ITV1 and ITVX.
