HBO have announced a new Game Of Thrones prequel series is on its way.

A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, is set a century before the events of the original series and will follow two unlikely heroes in the land of Westeros.

The story is based on the first three novels in George RR Martin’s A Song Of Ice And Fire series and tells the tale of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg as the Iron Throne still falls under Targaryen rule.

An official synopsis reads: “Improbable heroes though they be, great destinies lie ahead for Dunk and Egg; as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits.”

The new series will air on Warner Bros newly unveiled service Max (formerly known as HBO Max) and Martin will serve as executive producer alongside Ira Parker, Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis.

This comes after it was announced production had begun on the second series of the first Game Of Thrones spin-off, House Of The Dragon.

The House of the Dragon Twitter account shared a picture of the infamous Iron Throne on set yesterday (11th April), with the caption: “It’s time to return to King’s Landing. Season 2 #HouseoftheDragon is now in production”.

Ryan Condal, co-creator/showrunner/executive producer, also confirmed: "House of the Dragon has returned. We are thrilled to be shooting again with members of our original family as well as new talents on both sides of the camera.

"All your favourite characters will soon be conspiring at the council tables, marching with their armies, and riding their dragons into battle. We can't wait to share what we have in store."

Although filming has just begun, an official release date has yet to be announced but we expect House of the Dragon to return to our screens at some point in 2024.
