Ahead of hitting the UK this summer, supergroup Hollywood Vampires have postponed a run of shows due to Johnny Depp getting injured.
The group, made up of Depp, rock icon Alice Cooper, Aerosmith's Joe Perry and guitarist Tommy Henriksen, have been forced to pull some upcoming shows in the US, as the actor is suffering from an ankle injury.
Taking to Instagram to share the bad news with fans, Depp - who recently played at Jeff Beck's tribute at London’s Royal Albert Hall - wrote: “My Dear Friends, I am very sorry to say that I have fractured my ankle, which is a drag!!! It began as a hairline break but somewhere between Cannes and the Royal Albert Hall, it got worse rather than better.”
The statement continued: “Several medical professionals have suggested I avoid any and all activity for the moment.”
This means that he is "unable to travel" and will “miss you in New Hampshire, Boston and New York.”
However, if you plan on catching Hollywood Vampires when they comes to these shores, then you don’t need to worry, as Depp has assured fans that those dates will go ahead. “Fear not,” he wrote. “I promise we will bring an amazing show to all of you in Europe and bring our absolute best to the East Coast later this summer and make it up to all those who have paid for shows!!!
“Again, sincerest apologies. All my love and respect."
Announcing that the postponed US shows have been rescheduled for July, Hollywood Vampires said on Instagram that Depp had “sustained a painful injury to his ankle” and that he is “devastated by this turn of events, but looks forward to resting up so all four Vampires can bring their absolute best to the tour in Europe.”
The supergroup will play Scarborough Open Air Theatre on 5th and Swansea Arena on 7th July. The following night they will be at Manchester’s AO Arena, before playing the O2 in London on 9th July and Birmingham’s Utilita Arena on July 11th. The UK leg of the tour will end on Wednesday 12th July at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro.
Depp's film new film recently received a 7-minute standing ovation at Cannes Film Festival.
