TalkTV star Julia Hartley-Brewer and Piers Morgan scooped up some massive wins at the 2023 TRIC Awards.

The annual ceremony celebrates the biggest and best names in TV, radio and online shows across the last 12 months, as well as the talent that hit our screens and airwaves every day.

One of the big winners of the afternoon were TalkTV and TalkRadio, who landed not one but two of their three nominations.

The Interview of the Year gong went to Morgan for his interview with Cristiano Ronaldo, while Hartley-Brewer collected the Radio Programme prize for the Breakfast Show.

Speaking exclusively to virginradio.co.uk at the TRIC Awards red carpet, Julia said: “It's for the show, it's for what we actually do, not being a personality or any of that nonsense, I'm really proud of that!”

On where she’ll put that illustrious trophy, Julia added: “Definitely on the mantelpiece, along with my Celebrity Pointless trophy, that's the proudest achievement of my life.”

The 2023 TRIC Awards are certainly worlds away from life in front of the cameras in the studio, and the broadcaster revealed the show is a good excuse to let loose and celebrate the success of the station.

Julia continued: “I love getting glammed up, why not? Normally I have to wear a glam dress for the telly but I've always got my trainers on or flip flops underneath the table. I've got my heels on today, it's always nice, it's a great venue and a great event!”

While we're talking about TalkTV, broadcasting legend James Whale was also awarded the first-ever TRIC Recognition Award for his outstanding work in the TV, radio and online industry

Other big winners of the day included the ITV series The Chase, which landed Game Show, while host Bradley Walsh picked up TV Personality against Ant & Dec, Lee Mack and Stacey Solomon.

Meanwhile, That Peter Crouch Podcast beat the likes of Alan Carr’s Life’s a Beach and Dan Snow’s History Hit.

On the Soap front, Danielle Harold, who won massive praise for her role as Lola Pearce-Brown on EastEnders, bagged the Soap Actor prize, while Emmerdale landed the big prize - Soap of the year.

Ricky Gervais’ Netflix comedy-drama Afterlife nabbed Streamed series, while the late Paul O’Grady was recognised in the Factual category for his series, For The Love Of Dogs.

The Great British Bake Off saw off the competition from James Martin’s Saturday Morning and MasterChef to win best Food show, while Gogglebox reigned supreme in the Entertainment category.
