Deciding what to name your child is an exciting moment for many, but can also be a challenge.

Want something cute, but not too popular? A rare name but one that won't get them picked on?

The most popular baby names of 2023 so far have been shared.

It's a very different picture compared to the names that are going extinct.

There's a brand new number one spot for girls, but boys have stayed the same.

The most popular girls name is now Lily, with the former favourite Sophia now in second.

BabyCentre.co.uk says Amelia and Freya have become more popular, and Aria moved up two places to sixth.

Mila has has a huge jump of 31 places, landing at number 10.

TV shows seem to have influenced the boy names too.

Succession’s Logan has gone up to 48, with Roman climbing to 47th.

The top five names remain the same as last year: Muhammad, Noah, Theo, Leo and Oliver.

Jude has climbed 28 places to put it in the top 20 most popular names, as have Jacob, Liam and Alfie.
