Former This Morning host Fern Britton has spoken out about a possible return to the show now that Phillip Schofield has left.

The star hosted the show from 1999 to 2009, alongside Phillip for a lot of it.

She was one of the most popular names mentioned to replace Phillip after his high-profile departure from the show.

Phillip said some years later after Fern's departure that the pair were no longer friends.

Fern said: “We were involved in the show and mates at the time, but we don’t really [speak anymore]. We’re not in touch now.”

Fern recently told Good Housekeeping: “My time at This Morning was marvellous and I adored the 10 years I was there.”

Despite her love of the show she said: “I feel you should never look back. I don’t think I’d be able to turn the clock back; it wouldn’t work that way.”

She keeps in touch though with some other former presenters.

Fern has previously tweeted in praise of Eamonn Holmes.

“Unexpected calls from old mates are so lovely," she wrote.

“Just had the loveliest catch up with Eamonn Holmes. I think we have known each other since the 80’s when we were babies. Shooting the breeze."

So far hosts including Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond have presented alongside Holly Willoughby.
