Strictly Come Dancing will soon be twirling back onto our TV screens for 2023 — but who will be battling it out on the dancefloor to get their hands on the glitterball this year?

Former Corrie star Ellie Leach is said to have signed up for the upcoming series of the BBC show, according to The Sun.

The newly-single actress, who left the ITV1 soap after playing Faye Windass since 2011, has recently split from her boyfriend of five years.

A TV insider said: “This could be just the tonic for Ellie, who’s had some huge life changes this year and could do with something fresh to focus on.

“As well as splitting from Reagan she left Corrie, a show which she effectively grew up on as she joined the cast when she was just a child.

“It’s going to take some adjusting to, but Strictly is part of opening up a new chapter for Ellie.

“The dance contest will also give her a chance to get glammed up in a way which she rarely did on the cobbles of Weatherfield as Faye was a comparatively frumpy character.

“The only time Ellie was seen dressed to the nines was when she was walking the red carpet at events as herself.”

She could be joined by former Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas, 34, who is thought to be heading to the BBC studios.

A TV insider said: “After two decades on screen and, as one of the Thomas brothers, he instantly brings a huge fanbase. That’s what Strictly bosses love.

“Producers also see him as someone who can fill the young hunk role, which is important and often sees them pick soap stars.”

Celebrities rumoured to be appearing in the 21st series set to land in the autumn include original Come Dancing presenter Angela Rippon.

Speaking on Loose Women, Gloria Hunniford shared that her TV friend, 78, will be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing 2023, and is set to become Strictly's oldest ever contestant. Loose Women star Ruth Langsford is also thought to be stepping onto the dancefloor.

EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier, the son of Jeff and Jade Goody, is rumoured to be swapping Walford for the waltz.

A TV insider told The Sun: “Bobby is the dream signing for Strictly — he’s a young heart-throb who comes with a huge fanbase. He also has a very personal backstory and there’s so much love out there for Jade."

Former EastEnders actor Nigel Harman (Dennis Rickman) could also be joining the sequin-fest for 2023. The star played Sharon Watts' partner between April 2003 and December 2005 and would be following in the footsteps of Albert Square's James Bye, Molly Rainford, Maisie Smith, Jake Wood and Rose Ayling-Ellis.

Elsewhere, Queen of the Jungle Jill Scott could be getting glammed up for this year's ballroom party along with former 2018 Love Islander and BBC Three documentary presenter, Zara McDermott, who would be the first contestant from the ITV2 show to appear on Strictly.

"It is a dream come true for her and becoming the first former Love Island star to do so is the icing on the cake."

Irish TV presenter and previous The One Show host, Angela Scanlon, has also been rumoured to be taking part.

A source said: “It is hard to get the mix right for Strictly every year but producers think that Angela is perfect for it.

“She is really popular with the BBC's viewers but unlike so many celebrities she doesn't have a dancing background so Strictly fans will be able to go on a really enjoyable journey with her.

“Every year the producers like to have a glamorous yet wholesome TV presenter as the fans love them.”

Les Dennis seemed to confirm rumours around an appearance on the show as he recently shared an Apple Music playlist in a now-deleted tweet seen by with a cryptic post mentioning the BBC show.

The former Family Fortunes presenter caused a stir with the 143 song playlist which was simply titled 'Strictly by Les Dennis'

A source told the Mail On Sunday : "The viewers are going to love Les. He is a TV icon and now he will be dancing on one of the most popular shows around.

"He might be about to turn 70 but he is a showman and he will be great entertainment for those watching at home. There is genuine excitement about Les taking part."

Les had previously been approached by Strictly when he was portraying Michael Rodwell in Coronation Street but turned the role down due to scheduling conflicts

Les has been singing and dancing on a daily basis in the West End musical 42nd Street, which means he is more than ready to show of his foxtrot or even a waltz on the show.

Meanwhile, Strictly's Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Márquez have welcomed an 'utterly wonderful' second child. The former Hollyoaks star met the Strictly Come Dancing professional in 2017, and the couple share a daughter, Mia, who was born in 2019.
