The likes of S Club, DJ Fat Tony and Donna De Lory will feature across Virgin Radio Pride this week.
The Big Conversation for the next seven days will focus on LGBTQ+ body image and pressures faced by the community.
The LGBTQ+ community is often held to unattainable body standards. What type of implications can this have on the experiences of people in this community?
To go alongside this, on Wednesday (16th August) at 7pm, Alex Milsom will present What’s Wrong with My Body, where he will investigate the pressure on queer men to look perfect, and the extreme lengths they go to get there.
Alex will meet reality TV star Charlie King to hear how his traumatic experience in the public eye triggered his body dysmorphia, driving him to get plastic surgery. We’ll hear from the gay personal trainer Matt Boyles trying to help his clients have a healthy relationship with their body, as well as chat to clubbers in Soho about body dissatisfaction and the brutal realities of dating, and find out when to seek help and how with the BDD Foundation.
Another voice you’ll hear all this week will be Madonna’s long time backing dancer and singer Donna Delory, who will be chatting to host Steve Denyer.
Donna will share exactly what it takes to be a dancer for one of the world’s biggest artists, behind the scenes stories from Madonna’s world tours, the impact of the fame that came with the role and her thoughts on Madonna’s upcoming world tour.
On Monday (14th August), the legendary DJ Fat Tony will step up to the My Pride Playlist turntables. In this incredibly honest interview, Tony will about his struggles with addiction and how it brought him to near breaking point.
He’ll also share some incredible stories of hanging out with Boy George in the late 1980s, DJing at Brooklyn Beckham’s wedding and his friendship with Elton John.
On Tuesday (15th August), Vick Blight, Lotte Jeffs and Lewis Oakley will have an honest discussion on all things LGBTQ+ parenthood.
The panel will share stories from their own parental journey giving an open and honest look at the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ parenthood.
On Friday, S Club’s Jon, Jo and Bradley will be on air with Steve Denyer to chat about their new single These Are The Days and their upcoming sold-out arena tour this autumn, titled, S Club: The Good Times Tour.
Then, on Thursday (17th August), Matt & Harry are back with their new show, chatting about all things LGBTQ+, with a particular focus on relationships in all their forms!
Also on Fridays throughout August, join DJ Ben Aldridge from LGBTQ+ club night Glitter Bomb for an hour of the biggest club anthems to kick your weekend off in style.
