This Morning came bouncing back onto our TV screens after the summer break and Holly Willoughby was joined by co-presenter Alison Hammond on the first day back.

The host, 42, appears to have confirmed that she will be attending the National Television Awards alongside her ITV colleagues despite the past year's controversy.

During an interview with NTA host Joel Dommett on the ITV show, Willoughby confirmed that she would be making an appearance at the award ceremony held at London's O2 on Tuesday 5 September, regardless of the drama surrounding former co-star Phillip Schofield, 61.

With her arm around co-host Hammond, she told Dommett: "Good luck tomorrow night, we'll see you there."

Unlike Holly, Alison, 48, is shortlisted in the TV Presenter award category this year against rivals including Ant and Dec, while This Morning has been nominated again for best daytime show.

Opening the programme to Abba's Dancing Queen, Holly told viewers: "What a start to the show. It's so good to see you all. We are back from our summer break. With a new season comes new adventures."

Holly wrote on social media alongside a photo in her comeback outfit: "And just like that… it’s back to school… can’t wait to see you!!! @thismorning 10am."

The glamorous proceedings of the NTAs will kick off at 8pm on Tuesday 5 September and finish at 10:30pm. (Click here to see the full nominees list).
