Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins has begun airing on Channel 4, and it’s safe to say the show pulled no punches in regard to Matt Hancock’s appearance on the show.

Filmed prior to him starring on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, the former health secretary’s appearance on this reality show has been causing just as much uproar.

As a result, fans of the show were already in a negative mood towards the 44-year-old before he took to the screen to be put through his paces on Tuesday evening.

Viewers were therefore delighted to see that the ex-Special Forces stars put in charge of the celebrities did not go easy on the MP, and were gleeful in reaction to hearing several nasty nicknames get used for him in the first episode.

These included Jason ‘Foxy’ Fox calling Matt: “Hancock with a silent ‘han’” ahead of a tightrope challenge. And it has also emerged in an interview Hancock did with The Sun that he was also branded ‘Matt Handj*b” by the show’s DSes.

Viewers also delighted in seeing the disgraced politician pushed into a river by Jason, and made to endure a challenge which saw him face a brutal punch-up from retired footballer and fellow Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins star Jermaine Pennant, in which Matt failed to get the upper hand.

In reaction to the West Suffolk MP’s grilling on the show, one viewer wrote on social media: “Matt Hancock getting absolutely torn apart on #SASWhoDaresWins. He can’t handle anyone trying to challenge his authority. Absolutely brilliant…”

However others shared they weren’t happy to see Matt get to star on the reality TV show.

“Do I want to see Matt Hancock interrogated - humiliated & exposed as the cowardly liar he is - yes I do,” said one person on X (formerly Twitter). But they added: “In a court of law, not on Celebrity SAS.”

Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins will continue to air on Channel 4 every Sunday from 9pm.
