Here's how you can stay at Shrek's Airbnb swamp for free in the Scottish Highlands

If you're a fan of Shrek, you'll be pleased to know you can enjoy the ultimate ogre experience and stay in his authentic Scottish abode, thanks to a new listing on Airbnb.

The company teased: "Far, far away from, well, anything, Shrek’s Swamp has a secluded beauty you won’t find anywhere but Scotland.

"Nestled deep within the forests of the Scottish Highlands and accented with the cozy comforts Shrek has accumulated over the years, the swamp offers a retreat like no other.

"Shrek’s mud-laden, moss-covered, murky-watered swamp is situated among the rolling hills of Scotland where guests can stay up late, swap stories, and eat like an ogre – because in the morning, Donkey’s making waffles!

"Straight from Mother Nature herself, the swamp – and the forest around it – offers plenty of outdoor activities: winding trails to explore, picturesque picnic spots under the endless conifer trees, and unobstructed skies perfect for stargazing."

Located near the Scottish town of Newtonmore, about 112 miles north of Edinburgh, meals will be provided for you, while an on-site concierge will be on hand to lead you to the ogre adventure.

The website reads: "For £0 a night  – a nod to the priceless refuge Shrek’s Swamp has provided fairytale creatures of all kinds – ‘brogres’ will be able to request to book an exclusive two-night swamp stay for up to three guests on October 27-29.

"A former refuge for fairytale creatures, Shrek’s Swamp brings a whole new meaning to the term ‘treehouse.’ With its clever use of forestry, charmingly rustic interiors and iconic outhouse, the swamp is certain to offer an experience unlike any other."

Swamp-scape guests can relax in the ambiance of 'earwax candlelight', kick their feet up with a parfait, chill around the fire and 'enjoy the ultimate privacy of Shrek’s trusted outhouse'.

The two-night stay is 'not a contest', however Airbnb will make a one-time donation to the fantastic HopScotch Children’s Charity.
