The next celeb signed up for Dancing on Ice 2024 has been revealed.

TV and musical star Claire Sweeney will take on the likes of Ricky Hatton in the rink when the ITV competition returns in the new year.

Claire is known for her breakout role as Lindsey Corkhill on Channel 4’s Brookside, but she’s also got an impressive stage CV too, starring in the likes of Chicago, Guys and Dolls, Legally Blonde and Educating Rita.

The telly star returned to her soap roots earlier this year by kicking off a regular role as Cassandra Plummer in Coronation Street.

Revealing the Dancing On Ice news on This Morning today (Wednesday 27th September), Claire said: “I’m really looking forward to going to an ice rink with my son and actually being able to skate and not have to use the penguins they give you to help you stay upright!”

She added: "I've had to wear my boots around the house... I haven't stepped on the ice yet."

Tuesday (26th September) saw the announcement of the very first celeb getting ready to impress the judges, with legendary boxer Hatton getting ready to hit the ice.

While on the famous This Morning sofa himself, the iconic sportsman said: “If I can hold my nerve in the boxing ring I should be able to hold my nerve in the ice rink. I like setting new challenges and keeping myself busy!"

Ricky kicked off his glittering boxing career in 1997 and competed until 2012. He's worked as a boxing promoter ever since.

He’s held multiple world championships in the light-welterweight and welterweight divisions, and is considered one of the best British boxers of all time.

We’ll have to wait and see who Ricky and Claire will be skating against, with 12 celebs in total preparing to embark on “the ultimate challenge” to be crowned the best celebrity skater.

Stars currently rumoured for DOI 2024 include former Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson, Olympian Louis Smith, This Morning’s Sharon Marshall and EastEnders star Shona McGarty.

Dancing on Ice returns to ITV and ITVX in 2024.
