The Great British Bake Off have revealed the original signs Tasha created to refer to her fellow Bake Off contestants.
Following on from the show’s social media post last week in which Tash and her interpreter Daryl revealed what Bake Off associated words they’d had to invent signs for, the official GBBO account posted another video revealing Tash’s names for the other bakers a week later.
While Tash was sadly the most recent baker to be eliminated from the competition ahead of this week’s upcoming final, the video showed her hanging out with all of this year’s stars.
“Everyone’s got sign names,” she explained at the beginning of the clip, before showing off her own.
Dana’s sign name was inspired by her love of wearing beautiful dresses, meanwhile Dan’s was invented to fit with his sweet disposition: “Like a big old teddy bear,” Tasha told him.
Abbi’s comes from her love of foraging, and Rowan’s was inspired by how his name contains the word ‘row’.
Tasha explained how Christi’s name comes from the heart “because you’re in touch with your emotions and that’s really important and a good thing.”
Josh revealed he remembered how the semi-finalist came up with his sign name in party week - 'Mr Christmas'; meanwhile Keith’s was inspired by his tomatoes.
Other sign names were even more amusing, with Saku’s being inspired by how short she is in comparison to Tasha. “You’re always down here on me when you give me a hug!” Tash explained to Saku in the video.
Matty’s comes from his love of shoes, and Amos’ sign name was inspired by his favourite animal - killer whales. The baker who was first to leave the tent joked “not any more” about his fondness of the creature due to how his killer whale showstopper failed to win over the judges.
However, the funniest sign name was without a doubt Nicky’s, which thanks again to week one’s showstopper task became the sign for beaver. “Because that’s the funniest thing that’s happened,” Tash said.
All the bakers will be back for The Great British Bake Off 2023’s final episode, which will air on 28th November on Channel 4 and on demand from 8pm.
