There are a lot of seniors in the United States whose feet will be warm this winter thanks to one gorgeous and generous soul as we say hello to Elle Gianelli, a Californian young teen who started making silly socks and sending them to seniors in nearby nursing homes to brighten up the lives of residents.

Like most good ideas, it grew, and grew, Elle ended up with senior pen pals all over America and this Christmas she’s taken it up a level with a Go Fund Me campaign to allow her to send boxes of silly Christmas socks to seniors in care homes in every one of the 50 states.

She’s already passed her $10,000 target so there will be a lot of beautiful smiles in a lot of places where smiles will be very welcome this Christmas.

We go to Austin Texas now for a news pupdate that will melt your heart if you’re an animal lover, especially if dogs are your thing.

Say hello to Joe Rotunda, who saw a picture of Alva on his local dog shelter’s instagram page. Alva is gorgeous in every way but has Wobbler Syndrome. She arrived before Christmas in 2020 at just 5 months old. She was flea-ridden, malnourished, and in need of TLC. She had a hard time walking, even standing because of the syndrome, which is a bit like Parkinson’s.

Says Joe: “I just looked at her and said, ‘I bet everyone has given up on you,I’m not going to do that to you.” Alva had become skittish and wary of strangers, so Joe then came to the shelter every single day for two months, with his other dog, just to earn her trust, and for them to become friends, before fostering her and helping her with physical therapy. He’s installed ramps and padded corners all over his home so she feels safe wherever she goes
