Will there be a Frasier season two? Everything we know so far

With all episodes from the first season of the rebooted Frasier now having been released, what are the chances of there being a second season?

The much-loved comedy relaunched in October 2023, with a Christmassy finale airing in December.

Here’s what we know so far about a potential season two. 

What was season one of the Frasier reboot about?

The relaunched show, which arrived 19 years after the original series ended, followed psychiatrist Dr Frasier Crane in the next chapter of his life as he returned to Boston with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge and, as the synopsis said, “an old dream or two to finally fulfil.”

It aired on Paramount+.

Was season one of the Frasier reboot popular?

The new episodes of the classic comedy received mixed reviews from critics, but was broadly popular overall.

It has received a score of 61 percent from critics on review aggregating site Rotten Tomatoes, while fans scored it at a more impressive 79 percent.

Will there be a Frasier season two?

In February 2024, it was confirmed that there will be a second season of Frasier.

Kelsey Grammer, who plays the titular character and also serves as executive producer, said: “Frasier is a love story, and I am very happy we will be allowed to continue it. I’m delighted that our partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+ are on board for another season, and I can’t wait for the fans to see what we have in store!”

Who could be in Frasier season two?

Kelsey Grammer will be back as the lead character. 

Another star that is expected to return is Only Fools and Horses star Nicholas Lyndhurst, who plays Frasier’s workshy pal Alan Cornwall in season one.  

Other key characters that should be back are Jack Cutmore-Scott as Frasier’s son, Freddy, Toks Olagundoye as Olivia, Jess Salgueiro as Eve and Anders Keith as David.

Meanwhile, Peri Gilpin who returned for a cameo as Roz in the season finale, said that she would be open to appearing in future episodes.

Bebe Neuwirth also reprised her role as Lilth, so could possibly be back.

David Hyde Pierce, who was magnificent as Niles in the original series, didn’t want to appear in the first season of the reboot, so it’s unclear if he would be up for returning in the future. Jane Leeves, who played Daphne, also wasn’t in the new episodes, and John Mahoney (who played Martin Crane) died in 2018 at the age of 77.

When might Frasier season two be released?

Nothing has been confirmed, but the first season aired in October 2023, so if the show runs on a rough annual production cycle, that would mean autumn 2024.
