Vicky McClure has revealed that Trigger Point series two will honour Lana Washington’s losses from series one.

Speaking with virginradio.co.uk and other press at the highly anticipated second series’ launch event, the former Line of Duty star opened up about how important it was that series two recognised the effect that the events of series one had on bomb-disposal team leader Lana.

“There was a heavy load to come back with because of what happened to Lana’s character in series one,” McClure said. “It was great to be able to make sure that we took that on board and honoured all of those awful scenarios and losses that she had.”

For series two, McClure joined Line of Duty’s Jed Mercurio as an executive producer on the show, giving her more creative control over the series. “To be honest, I’ve always been into that kind of stuff,” McClure admitted. “I’m very nosy… I like to read the entire call sheet… I like to know exactly what’s going on.

“I’m not just doing it for the credit. It was something that I was really passionate about and have done on other jobs now,” she added.

Opening up about what it was like to return to the character of Lana after some time away from the show, McClure said: “It was great to be back with the gang and lots of returning crew members, returning cast members and new people - it was great. It’s always a lot of fun to make.”

Teasing series two, she shared “You’ve got to watch it, but it is non-stop, it is edgy, it is entertaining television, and that’s exactly what we’re trying to achieve.”

Trigger Point series two begins on ITV1 and ITVX this Sunday, 28th January, at 9pm.
