Adele Roberts has revealed how it feels to be the only woman competing in the Dancing On Ice final and what the competition has taught her.
On 10th March, Adele will go up against Greg Rutherford, Ryan Thomas and Miles Nazaire in the hopes of winning this year’s Dancing On Ice trophy.
It’s been quite a journey, and Adele spoke to virginradio.co.uk and other press about her time on the show and her achievements.
She said: “I’m honoured to be the last woman standing and I really hope I can do all my girls proud in this competition.
“I know that a lot of people have said that the show doesn't necessarily lead to female winners, and there hasn't been one for a while, but I guess I'm just going to bring my A game and just go for it.”
The last woman to win Dancing On Ice was Beth Tweddle in 2013, so if Adele were to win, she would be the first woman to do so in over 10 years!
Adele is also the first to compete in Dancing On Ice with a stoma bag, which she had fitted after undergoing colostomy surgery following her cancer diagnosis in 2021.
Speaking about navigating the competition with her stoma bag, which she has lovingly nicknamed ‘Audrey’, Adele said: “I'm still getting used to having a stoma because I've not had one that long, and some people have them from birth. The way that the ostomate community have supported me, it's been amazing.
“All the other contestants as well—they've all helped me in their own way, and all the pros. It is a privilege. It's a privilege to be on this show and to be the first one, I think, in the show's history to have a stoma and to work out how to train with the stoma and when to eat, when to drink and what to do when a bag starts coming off, which it has done.”
For Adele, getting to the final has been the cherry on top of an incredible experience and she revealed she has learned a lot about herself during her time on the show.
She said, “I’ve learned to trust myself and to have more confidence. It has really made me come out of my shell. I used to just kind of walk around with my head down and try to fade into the background, and it has taught me the reverse of that. I can have glam hair and makeup and I can get my head up and shoulders back. So it has been good for me and has definitely brought me out of myself.”
We also caught up with Greg Rutherford, who is competing in the final despite an injury he sustained a few weeks ago. You can read that interview here.
The Dancing On Ice final will air on ITV and ITVX at 6.25pm on Sunday, 10th March.
