The Bear leading actor Jeremy Allen White is reportedly being considered to play musical icon Bruce Springsteen.

The Boss will be front-and-centre of a new biopic based on the 2023 book, Deliver Me From Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska, by Warren Zane. Bruce released Nebraska in 1982 and while one of the most highly-regarded albums in his discography, it’s also a more thoughtful and introspective record.

According to Deadline, movie studio A24 are in talks to make the film, and Jeremy is the “top choice” to play the Born in the USA hitmaker. The report suggests that negotiations haven’t started just yet, but should everything go through, filming would start in New Jersey later this year, once Jeremy has wrapped up the reported fourth series of The Bear

Bruce himself is also allegedly part of the new project, alongside longtime manager Jon Landau.

The Springsteen news comes just 24 hours after the Dancing in the Dark hit-maker made history by becoming the first international recipient of the Ivors Fellowship in its 80-year history.

Bruce joins a very illustrious list of talented musicians to receive the Ivors Fellowship, including Sir Paul McCartney, Kate Bush CBE, Joan Armatrading CBE, and Sting, who received the award in 2023.

The songwriter is one of the biggest names to ever grace the charts, having won 20 Grammy Awards, an Oscar and a Tony Award. He’s been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Songwriters equivalent too. Since his debut in 1973 with Greetings from Asbury Park, Bruce has sold over 140 million records worldwide.

Speaking in a statement announcing the historic news, Bruce revealed: “I’m proud to be the first international songwriter to be recognised by The Ivors Academy. In addition to recognising my songwriting, the award stands as a tribute to the fans and friends who have supported me and my work for the last fifty years.

“This entire country has made me feel welcome every step of the way, and for this, I will always remain deeply appreciative.”

This year’s Ivors nominees will be announced on Tuesday 23rd April and the winners will be revealed at The Ivors with Amazon Music at Grosvenor House in London on Thursday 23rd May 2024.
