Is it Pure and Simple Hear'Say are getting back together? Former pop star Kym Marsh has revealed the Popstars reality TV band reunited to 'try and explore' a potential return to music.

The 2001 contest-winning sensations have spent time back in the studio - so could this be the start of a retro comeback?

Waterloo Road star Kym told virginradio.co.uk at the Royal Television Society Awards about the band getting back together briefly. She said: "I get asked this a lot about reuniting with Hear'Say and there was a little bit of a rumour not long ago.

"We did actually all get together and sing in a room and it was great, but I just don't think the time is right for all of us. So I'm very happy doing what I'm doing."

The former Coronation Street star explained what brought the singers - Kym, Danny Foster, Myleene Klass, Suzanne Shaw and Noel Sullivan - all together.

The ex Strictly contestant said: "Just chatting together. We talk quite a lot, you know, and it just was something that we decided that we might try and explore, but then we're all just so busy doing our own thing."

Hear’Say’s debut single, Pure and Simple, was released on March 2001 and sold 1.3 million copies, becoming the fastest selling non-charitable record of all time in the UK. The group’s debut album sold 1.2 million copies in the UK.

The manufactured band won the reality TV show, beating Liberty X, and moved into a house in London under the watchful eye of music mogul Nigel 'Nasty' Lythgoe.

Their own television show: Hear’Say It’s Saturday followed featuring comedy sketches and performances with acts including Lionel Richie, Bradley Walsh and Atomic Kitten.

The winners at The Royal Television Society Programme Awards included Happy Valley, Hannah Waddingham, Chris Packham, Sort Your Life Out and Mr Bates vs The Post Office, while Dame Esther Rantzen was also recognised.

The prestigious event, held at JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel in London, was hosted by Virgin Radio’s Tom Allen.
