Fans of Death in Paradise and Beyond Paradise will be very excited to learn that ANOTHER spin-off series is in production, this time set Down Under.
The BBC has announced that filming has commenced on Return to Paradise, Australia’s original spin-off series of the global smash-hit murder mystery franchise Death in Paradise.
Filming is happening across Sydney and the idyllic Illawarra coastal region, and Return to Paradise will see franchise’s first lead female detective in Mackenzie Clarke, played by Home and Away’s Anna Samson.
The cast will also include English comedian Lloyd Griffith (Ted Lasso, Nolly), as well as Tai Hara (Colin From Accounts), Catherine McClements (Ms Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries) and Celia Ireland (Total Control). Andrea Demetriades (The Artful Dodger) and Aaron McGrath (Gold Diggers) will also feature..
The narrative follows Mackenzie, an Aussie ex-pat who’s made a name for herself in London for solving seemingly uncrackable murder cases. However, when she is accused of tampering with evidence, she returns to the last place she ever wanted to be, her hometown of Dolphin Cove in Aus. Having fled the town six years ago, leaving her ex- fiancée Glenn (Tai Hara) at the altar, it’s safe to say that Mackenzie is not given a massively warm welcome.
However, with no other job options, Mack reluctantly joins the team at Dolphin Cove Police Station, but will she win over her new colleagues, and the people of Dolphin Cove?
As yet, the release date for Return to Paradise has not been revealed, but it will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK.
Meanwhile, Death in Paradise recently aired its 13th series, with lead-actor Ralf Little quitting the show at its conclusion.
The second series of Beyond Paradise continues on BBC One on Fridays, with Kris Marshall back as DI Humphrey Goodman.
Return to Paradise will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK.
