Baywatch star Pamela Anderson is reportedly teaming up with Taken’s Liam Neeson to bring back a classic comedy.

It has previously been reported that The Naked Gun is being rebooted, and that Northern Irish actor Neeson is set to star in the lead role. Well, now Deadline reports that the Canadian-American actress and model will join him on the project.

At this stage, there aren’t many details regarding what we can expect from the new film, but it will be based on The Naked Gun series. It is believed that Neeson will play the son of Detective Sergeant Frank Drebin, who was played by Leslie Nielsen in the original movies. It is not known what role the ex-Baywatch icon will take on.

The 1988 Naked Gun film and its sequels were hugely popular upon their release. The movie series followed on from the TV show Police Squad, and focused on Nielsen’s Frank Drebin. They were known for their slapstick approach and non-stop barrage of very funny gags.

The as-yet untitled movie will be directed and produced by Hot Rod’s Akiva Schaffer, and is due to be released in cinemas in the summer of 2025, with a premiere date of 18th July.

The film will be co-produced by Seth MacFarlane - best known as the creator and star of Family Guy - and Erica Huggins. This will not be the first time that Neeson and MacFarlane will have worked together, they also teamed up on A Million Ways To Die In The West and Ted 2.

Meanwhile, it will not be the first time that Pamela Anderson has featured in a comedy movie. She was also in Scary Movie 3 and Superhero Movie, the latter of which starred Nielsen.

The previous instalment of Naked Gun was 1994’s The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult. This followed The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell Of Fear from 1991, which was the first sequel to the original movie.

All three were big box office hits.
