Stacey Dooley cheers on partner Kevin Clifton's success in Everybody's Talking About Jamie, attributing his stellar performance to the late Paul O'Grady's influence.

Stacey Dooley, known for her documentaries, attended the Liverpool Empire to support her partner Kevin Clifton, who's wowing audiences with his portrayal of Loco Chanel in Everybody's Talking About Jamie.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, she shared her admiration, revealing the unexpected inspiration behind Kevin's performance.

"Went to go see Kev last night. [in Jamie the musical]. Kev, you are so v v clever. Smaaaaaaashed it. Embodied the role SO seamlessly. Seems the non stop research of Lily Savage and endless drag literature paid off. Well done darlin.

"Also, (and perhaps more importantly, congrats to me for bringing the peddle pushers back for April 2024."

Fans joined Stacey in praising Kevin's performance, with one enthusing: "He was amazing! Was there last night in Liverpool and it was just the best show."

Another chimed in: "Aah we went last night and Kevin was EPIC as Loco! We didn't realise how great he was at singing."

Kevin's role as Hugo, the former drag queen Loco Chanel, is a departure from his ballroom dance background.

Previous actors who took on the role include John Partridge, Shane Ritchie, and Richard E. Grant in the film adaptation.

The late Paul O'Grady, known for his acerbic drag queen Lily Savage, served as an unexpected muse for Kevin's transformation into Loco Chanel.

Paul O'Grady, who sadly passed away last March aged 67, enjoyed a decades-long TV career as the acerbic drag queen.

O'Grady's legacy lives on as his influence continues to shape the world of drag and performance.

Kevin and Stacey's journey began on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, where their partnership blossomed into a real-life romance.

Despite initial controversies surrounding their relationship, including Stacey's previous seven-year relationship with personal trainer Sam Tucknott, the couple has remained steadfast.

As Kevin shines on stage, channeling the spirit of Loco Chanel, he honours not only the character but also the legacy of drag legends like Paul O'Grady.
