Only Murders in the Building reveals season 4 release date as Bridesmaids star joins cast

Only Murders in the Building is coming back, and it has added another impressive comedy name to its cast.

A new teaser clip has been released, announcing the release date for season four and promising “the starriest season yet”.

The new trailer reveals that the show will return on Tuesday 27th August, streaming on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in the UK. 

As well as showing us that our favourite podcasters Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) are heading to Hollywood, the footage shows us some of the stars of comedy who are joining the comedy series. 

The new cast members include stars of some of the biggest comedy movies of recent years. Melissa McCarthy from Bridesmaids is the latest name to be joining the cast. She joins previously announced newbies, such as The Hangover star Zach Galifianakis and Eugene Levy, who famously played Jim’s dad in the American Pie movies, and more recently starred in the life-affirming comedy series, Schitt’s Creek. 

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria will also join the cast, as will Molly Shannon from The White Lotus and The Big Sick’s Kumail Nanjiani.

Hollywood star Meryl Streep will be back, as will Da'Vine Joy Randolph and Jane Lynch also features in the new trailer. Presumably she will appear in flashback form, given that her character, Sazz, was (spoiler alert) shot dead at the end of season three.

Season four will see our podcast heroes wrestle with the shocking events at the end of season three surrounding Charles’ stunt double, Sazz Pataki. Questioning whether Sazz or Charles was the intended victim, our trio’s investigation leads them all the way to Los Angeles where a Hollywood studio is readying a film about the Only Murders podcast. 

As the three amateur sleuths race back to New York, they embark on an even more epic journey and delve into the twisted lives of the Arconia’s West Tower residents.
