Musician and king of the internet James Blunt had fans howling with his latest travel update.

The You’re Beautiful singer recently touched down in Dubai and received a warm welcome from the hotel he was staying in. James was gifted with a lovely card from the Guest Relations team at said hotel, but it seems a major mistake (albeit a hilarious one) was made on their part.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share the gaffe, James posted a welcome card adorned with pictures of the artist from various performances and photo-shoots, although one image featured a dashing photo of Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne

“Sweet welcome card in my hotel room here in Dubai. #eddieredmayne” James jokingly wrote as the photo’s caption.

When a follower quickly pointed out the discrepancy, writing: “Is that Eddie Redmayne at top right?”, the songwriter was quick to reply: “Flash to the f****** bang.”

Plenty of fans found the mix-up hilarious, with one commenting: “loved you in that “Fantastic Beasts” movie!”

“Lol. At least they tried,” suggested another, while a third said: “Have to say James, you were superb in "The Theory of Everything". You didn't sing much as I recall.”

The comical mistake comes after James admitted to his own mishap while performing at Glastonbury 2008

Playing the music festival’s main Pyramid Stage was “the most incredible experience in the world” the singer-songwriter told Metro.co.uk recently.

However, Beside You hit-maker also recollected how things went a little pear-shaped after he chose to capitalise on the amazing moment by crowd surfing “over 80,000 people.”

Remarkably, the crowd surfing itself went without trouble, but it was when Blunt turned to go back on stage that his problems began.

“When I got back to the stage I realised it was too high for me to climb onto,” he admitted. “There was a guy on the stage, I didn’t recognise him, but I started shouting at him for help.

“‘Help me, please!’” he yelled at the mystery man. “Then I realised he had a camera on his shoulder, and he was the BBC TV cameraman, and I was shouting ‘Help me!’ down the barrel of the lens to the nation.”

But while Blunt believes the moment must have “secured my place as the least cool musician to have ever existed or played at Glastonbury” he also revealed he’d “love to play there again… or Wembley Stadium.”

James is currently touring around Europe for his Who We Used to Be Tour, but will hit the road yet again in 2025 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his debut album, Back to Bedlam.
