Britain's Got Talent crowned their 2024 winner last night (Sunday 2nd June) and fans have praised the new champ following an incredible final performance.

After weeks of searching, the panel of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli finally found their BGT winner in singer Sydnie Christmas, who closed out the competition with an emotional rendition of Over The Rainbow.

Sydnie faced tough competition from her fellow finalists, with wildcard The Trickstars, Innocent Masuku, Mike Woodhams and Northants Sings Out, dancers Abigail & Afronitaaa, taekwondo group Ssaulabi Performance Troupe, magicians Jack Rhodes and Trixy, double act Haribow, and comedian Alex Mitchell all taking part in the live final.

Sydnie’s tear-jerking performance led to a standing ovation from all the judges, and she returned to the stage for the nail-biting winner reveal alongside second place finisher Jack Rhodes and third place act Abigail & Afronitaaa.

Following the announcement of her major win, Sydnie told hosts Ant and Dec: “I cannot believe the amount of love that I've felt since it aired. I am overwhelmed with love and it is the most amazing thing.

"And I wish for one day that every single person in this room feels the way I do one day with this love. It's amazing, thank you so much!"

It’s been a long journey for singer Sydnie, who was one of the first acts to receive the all-important golden buzzer from Amanda Holden in April.

Fans were also elated to see the talented artist take home the BGT prize of £250,000 and a chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.

Plenty of fans took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share their praise for Sydnie, with one writing: “Huge congratulations to Sydnie Christmas, the winner of Britain's Got Talent 2024! Literally one of the best voices I've heard in recent times.”

Another said: “Sydnie Christmas won Britain's Got Talent today. Well-deserved. It's always fun to cheer for someone who is both humble AND who can take a Frank Sinatra song and go nuclear with it.”

A third wrote: “Sydnie Christmas smashed it. Three blockbuster performances that, combined, likely rank among the best ever on any TV talent show.”

“Sydnie Christmas a very deserving winner happy with who won this year #BGT #BritainsGotTalent,” commented another.
