The Great British Sewing Bee viewers have been left divided over the elimination of one particular contestant during Holiday Week.

The BBC competition continued last night (Tuesday 4th June), with the remaining sewing experts tasked with making garments fit for the beach.

The challenges included sewing a blouse from tablecloths, making bags from nautical paraphernalia and designing outfits inspired by the French Riviera.

However, someone had to go home, and this week it was fan-favourite Janet.

Some fans at home weren’t best pleased at the Yorkshire local getting the boot, with plenty taking to X to vent their frustrations.

“I shall miss Janet and her barely concealed sauciness,” wrote one viewer, while another added: “Janet is just so fabulous! I love everything about her.”

A third said: “A bit sad to see Janet go though, she brought something quite exuberant to the show with lots of no f***s to give energy.”

Janet proved a rather divisive figure in The Great British Sewing Bee, so a number of fans were also happy with the judges decision.

One wrote: “Watched a combative hour where decisions had to be made at 9pm last night. With the viewers overall… Janet needed to go.”

“Janet just doesn't follow the brief & just does her own thing,” said another.

Meanwhile, Kiell Smith-Bynoe continues his run as the new Great British Sewing Bee host, and received major praise from fans following his debut in May.

Kiell took over the reins from fellow Taskmaster alumni Sara Pascoe and joined returning judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young to watch over the new batch of sewing experts, after originally competing on the 2021 Christmas special and hosting the festive episode in 2023.

Appearing on The One Show earlier this month, the comedian admitted he was “flattered” to be asked back, but jokingly confessed he doesn’t “understand why.”

He explained: “I thought, ‘Are they asking me to come back on? And if they are, why is it coming through a DM from Patrick Grant rather than a formal offer to my agent?’ And he was just like, ‘Would you come back and do the main gig?’”

The Great British Sewing Bee airs on Tuesdays, 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
