Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan and Baby Reindeer's Jessica Gunning join cast of The Magic Faraway Tree

A magical movie based on Enid Blyton‘s The Faraway Tree series is coming soon and Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan and Baby Reindeer's Jessica Gunning are joining forces for the adaptation.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actors will join the star-studded line-up including Spider-Man's Andrew Garfield and The Crown's Claire Foy.

The plot teases: “Based on The Faraway Tree series of novels for children, The Magic Faraway Tree follows Polly (Foy) and Tim Thompson (Garfield) and their children, Beth, Joe and Fran, who find themselves forced to relocate to the remote English countryside. There, the children discover a magical tree and its extraordinary and eccentric occupants.”

Bridgerton star Nicola will play woodland fairy Silky, while Ted Lasso's Nonso Anozie will take the reins as group leader Moonface.

Inhabitants of the tree also include Baby Reindeer's Jessica who will star as Dame Washalot and Dustin Demri-Burns will star as Saucepan Man. Mark Heap will star as Mr. Oom Boom Boom and Oliver Chris will play Mr. Watzisname.

Plus there's Lenny Henry, Michael Palin and Simon Russell Beale who will play 'a trio of mystical wise men from the Land of Know-Alls'.

Directed by Ben Gregor, the much-loved story has been adapted for the big screen by Paddington and Wonka's Simon Farnaby.
