Superstar singer Celine Dion has opened up about living with the debilitating Stiff Person Syndrome and how she now struggles to sing.

The Power of Love singer appeared on NBC's Today that singing is 'like somebody’s strangling' her and that it has caused broken ribs.

"It gets into a spasm," Dion said. "It started [in the throat]. [And I thought], 'No, okay, it’s gonna be fine.’ But it can also be the abdominal, can be in the spine, can be in the ribs.

“Sometimes, when it’s very severe, it can break some ribs,” the singer said.

The All By Myself singer explained: “It feels like if I point my feet, it will stay in [that position].

"Or, if I cook — because I love to cook — my fingers, my hands will get in position. It’s cramping, but it’s like in a position of like, you cannot unlock them.”

The five-time Grammy winner was diagnosed with the rare neurological disorder in December 2022 and was prevented from touring.

She explained at the time: "Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life … sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I'm used to.

"All I know is singing. It's what I've done all my life. And it's what I love to do the most."

The global icon is set to open up more about her health woes in new Amazon MGM documentary I Am: Celine Dion.

Dion told Vogue recently about what fans could expect from her new tour: “I can’t answer that… Because for four years I’ve been saying to myself that I’m not going back, that I’m ready, that I’m not ready.

“As things stand, I can’t stand here and say to you: ‘Yes, in four months.’ I don’t know... My body will tell me,” she said. “On the other hand, I don’t just want to wait. It’s morally hard to live from day to day."

I Am: Celine Dion is set to land on Prime Video on June 25.
