Hold onto your sun hats and slap on that factor 50, because it looks like Benidorm might be making a fabulous comeback!

The much-loved ITV comedy, which ran for ten gloriously sunny seasons from 2007 to 2018, is back in the spotlight thanks to a new lease of life on Netflix.

And guess what? Star Sherrie Hewson is all in for a reboot!

Sherrie, who played the unforgettable Joyce Temple-Savage, recently chatted with OK! magazine about the show’s resurgence.

"I think Benidorm is bigger now than when we were actually on television," she exclaimed. “People stop me and say, 'I'm rewatching Benidorm again.' It's been in the top 10 on Netflix.”

With its hilarious antics and colourful characters, Benidorm has clearly found a new generation of fans on the streaming service.

Sherrie couldn’t help but gush about the show’s unique charm: "There's nothing on telly like it, is there? I call it Carry On funny because it's a very British sense of humour."

But what about a potential revival? Well, Sherrie is definitely on board.

“I'd definitely go back – we all loved our time on Benidorm. I say they should make a film out of it,” she suggested.

Can you imagine? A Benidorm movie would be the ultimate holiday treat, filled with sun, sea, and side-splitting laughter.

Sherrie also shared that she remains in close contact with her former castmates, particularly Tony Maudsley, who played Kenneth Du Beke.

“We never stop talking about Benidorm – it was 10 years of our lives,” she said. It’s heartwarming to know that the cast’s bond is as strong as ever, just like our love for the show.

Comparing her role as Joyce to her current gig on Hollyoaks as Martha Blake, Sherrie noted: "I've never been an out-and-out baddie before – I just love it! Joyce Temple-Savage was a bit of a b****, but very funny."

Ah, Joyce – part tyrant, part comic relief, and all unforgettable.

Benidorm not only gave us unforgettable characters like Joyce and Kenneth but also saw early appearances from stars like Sheridan Smith and Hannah Waddingham, who’ve gone on to dazzle in shows like Cleaning Up and Ted Lasso.

Not to mention, it featured Inside No. 9’s Steve Pemberton and the ever-hilarious Johnny Vegas.

As we cross our fingers for a Benidorm reboot or even a sun-soaked movie adventure, we can all relive the magic on Netflix.
