Death in Paradise star Joséphine Jobert has revealed whether or not Florence will ever be returning to our screens.

Speaking with fans during an Instagram Q&A, the star was asked whether she would ever return to play DS Florence Cassell in a spin-off after making another guest appearance in the BBC series in 2024, the Express reports.

“I think I can safely say no,” was Jobert’s response. “I’ve already left and come back many times and I’ve definitely done my time on the show.

“I’ve finally been able to say goodbye to Florence and while I am very grateful to have been part of this project that has brought so many lovely things in my life, I am also happy to be able to move on and take part in new projects.”

The actress was kind to the fans who had asked her the question, however. “I completely understand why the question is asked,” she said, adding: “In fact, I am very touched that the public wants to continue following Florence.”

Joséphine Jobert made her first appearance on Death in Paradise as DS Cassell in 2015, alongside Kris Marshall’s DI Humphrey Goodman.

With Marshall now leading his own spin-off show Beyond Paradise and a new spin-off, Return to Paradise, planned for the future too, it’s unsurprising fans have an appetite to hear if more actors from the main show might appear in its many spin-offs.

Things are all a-changing on Death in Paradise as well, as Ralf Little departed along with Jobert again in the last episode of the last series, leading to the show’s main detective role becoming available once more.

We now know EastEnders’ Don Gilet will be playing new lead DI Mervin Wilson in the series, which is currently filming. The actor will make his first appearance later this year in the show’s Christmas special episode.

Death in Paradise and its spin-off shows Beyond Paradise and Return to Paradise air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
