Bridgerton lead star Nicola Coughlan has celebrated the release of season three part two by proudly showing off one piece of furniture that didn’t survive one particularly steamy sex scene.

The Derry Girls star took to Instagram today (13th June) after part 2 dropped on Netflix, and gave fans an insight into just how much effort went into a raunchy moment between her character Penelope Featherington and new fiance Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).

Nearly two years after the second season aired, the hit show returned in May with part one of season two, which saw Penelope and Colin finally declare their secret affection for each other, and given how the final moments of part one captured the new couple in the throws of a rather intimate meet-up in a carriage, it’s no surprise to see the risque moments continue into part two.

In the hilarious snap shared to social media, Nicola gives a cheeky grin to the camera while holding a thumbs up at the sight of a broken chaise-longue. The seat had clearly had enough after being used in one of likely many saucy moments.

The actress wrote in the caption: “Part Two is out now, we put our heart and souls into it, hope you love watching it as much as we loved filming it.”

Fans were thrilled to finally see the furniture that didn’t make it to the final scene, with one responding: “Yep, this was worth the wait, you two look very pleased with yourselves.”

Another one said: “I love that you’ve been saving these pictures for this very moment.”

Nicola and Luke revealed all about the accidental sex scene mishap during a recent chat on This Morning, where the Irish actress confessed: “We did stop because we broke the furniture when we were doing it. We were really going for it.”

She added: “We’ve worked together for so long that we can communicate without having to say much, and I knew that we were both thinking “We’re killing this”.’

Outside of the steamy scenes, Colin actor Luke dished to and other press about the “mad experience” of being the new leading man in The ‘Ton.

“There's so many twists and turns,” he teased. “It feels like we don't settle for more than two minutes, but I can't wait to share it."

From the red carpet in Leicester Square for yesterday’s UK Gala Screening of Bridgerton series three part two, the star added: “The secrets will finally be out. We've been holding them for so many months. So, yeah, it's great.”

Speaking about the fan reactions at the various Special Screenings around the world, Luke told us: “Every screening is kind of wild. Brazil has my heart. It was an amazing place to be, and the fans are so passionate there.”

He added: “It's just been wild. It's been nice to meet people in person.”
