Set to start looking for the next big boyband on upcoming Netflix show Simon Cowell: Midas Touch, he confirmed he won't be retiring any time soon. He said: "Oh god no, I'll probably drop dead doing what I'm doing. As long as I think there's a need or a purpose and it's something I can do well, I'm up for it."
His dad Eric — who died from a heart attack — had 'no choice' but to stop working due to working for a big company.
The music guru said that watching what happened to his father was very difficult. He admitted: "I remember the day my dad retired — it was very sad because he really didn't want to stop working, but he had no choice as he worked for a big company.
"He said to me when I was young, 'If you can try to work for yourself, do,' and it always stuck in my head. Seeing what he went through was hard."

He continued: "His brain was still amazing and he could have done that job for another 20 years."
A source told The Sun about Simon's new talent-scouting venture: "Netflix is the perfect place for his new show and Box To Box, who are producing the series, have worked with them before.
"Simon and his team have been working so hard on getting the show off the ground and a final deal is so close now."
The source added: "Simon knows he is the best at what he does and calling his show Midas Touch gives a new meaning to blowing your own trumpet."
The new show will feature X Factor-style bootcamp auditions kicking off in July starting in Newcastle, and moving onto Liverpool, Dublin and London.
