Now that we know who the illustrious cast of The Thursday Murder Club will be, it seems cameras have already started rolling, with Osman himself confirming the exciting news via X.

Taking to the social media channel, the former Pointless co-host shared a photo of Mirren’s set chair, with the caption: “Oh it’s HAPPENING”.

Plenty of fans were thrilled to see the flick finally getting off the ground, with one writing: “OMG brilliant. The anticipation is huge,” while another said: “Exciting stuff! Can’t wait to see the end result and bet they have great fun making it. You must be so pleased.”

Alongside Oscar winner Helen and former Bond Pierce, there’s a plethora of major names in The Thursday Murder Club cast

The likes of Doctor Who’s David Tennant, Game of Thrones star Jonathan Pryce, The End of the F***ing World's Naomi Ackie, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget's Danny Mays and Killing Eve's Henry Lloyd-Hughes will also lend their talents to the big-screen retelling.

We don’t yet know when The Thursday Murder Club will be released, but we do know it’ll be out both on Netflix and in cinemas.

Osman previously said about the incoming adaptation: "I'm so proud of this book, so it is a dream to see The Thursday Murder Club in such incredible hands. From Chris Columbus, to Amblin to Netflix, there are geniuses everywhere I look. And what a cast. I'm pinching myself."

The official logline for the movie says: “The story follows a group of friends in a retirement home who gather to solve murders for fun, but find themselves caught in a real case.”

As yet, there are no specific plot details or any idea of how close the film’s plot will be to that of the book. The novel saw the group of pensioners set about solving the mystery of the murder of a property developer in the luxurious Cooper's Chase retirement village near the fictitious village of Fairhaven in Kent.
