Peaky Blinders, Bridgerton and Outlander have all been revealed to be some of the UK’s most fashionably influential TV shows.

Individuals across the world have been inspired by the clothes of characters in series including Killing Eve, Doctor Who and Sherlock too, a recent study of social media trends by clothes label Superdry has revealed.

Through collecting data on the number of Instagram and TikTok posts with hashtags such as ‘#PeakyBlindersStyle’, ‘#HeartstopperFashion’ and ‘#SherlockAesthetic’ (and using the names of a YouGov poll’s top rated British TV shows) the study has revealed the most popular British show when it comes to fashion is Peaky Blinders.

Its fans have posted almost 93,000 times with hashtags related to the show’s sartorial looks, meanwhile Bridgerton came in a distant second place with almost 32,000 posts recorded.

Killing Eve was third with 7,718 posts; Sherlock fourth with 5,046; and Outlander was fifth with 4,694. The rest of the top ten were Skins, Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Absolutely Fabulous and Heartstopper, in that order.

While this list is certainly focused on putting style over substance, all of Instagram and TikTok's favourite fashionable British dramas are much loved online for their stories too.

It’s possible more recent hits such as Bridgerton - which just revealed its season four romantic lead - and Heartstopper may even come to rival some of the other top shows on the list with time, just as long as they continue to remain popular over the years.

However, while Bridgerton fans have quite a bit to wait now for new content following the release of Bridgerton season three earlier this year, Peaky Blinders fans are set to finally get to revisit the Shelby gang in a film continuation of the popular series, which is expected to begin filming later this year.

Cillian Murphy has been confirmed to be returning to his iconic role as Thomas Shelby for the film, which will have a script penned by Peaky Blinders mastermind Stephen Knight, and which will eventually be released on Netflix.
