Four new teams have kicked off their Celebrity Race Across The World journeys, and many fans have already seemingly decided who they want to win.

The famous faces and their companions started their 12,500km route in Belém, Northern Brazil, and will make their way through five checkpoints as the series continues, crossing the length of South America, to finally reach the finish line in the Andes, Frutillar in Southern Chile.

They have only £2,200 to their names (the cost of a single flight for two, equating to £36 a day), with no mobile phones or credit cards at their disposal. This means they’ll need to use their street smarts to make the journey as the hope to be first team to finish.

Broadcaster Jeff Brazier has teamed up with his son, Freddy, while Ted Lasso’s Kola Bokinni is joined by his cousin, Mary Ellen. Broadcaster Kelly Brook and her husband Jeremy Parisi are another team, as are radio presenter Scott Mills and his fiancé (now husband) Sam Vaughan.

In the first episode, the celebs all explain why they have taken on the challenge. Jeff wants wants to spend more time with his teenage son, and Kelly Brook wants to shake off her pin-up tag. Scott hopes to embark on a big challenge before getting married, and Kola is looking forward to going on an adventure with his cousin.

As viewers will have come to expect, there are long bus rides and touching moments in the first instalment of the new series. And of course, there are the tense and exciting moments.

Kelly and Jeremy managed to reach the first checkpoint ahead of the others, with 84 percent of their budget remaining. This was somewhat surprising, given Kelly's leisurely approach at times!

Scott and Sam followed in second. Jeff and Freddy made it next, just ahead of Kola and Mary-Ellen.

Fans took to social media to pick their favourite pairings as the first episode came to an end, and a whole lot of them are cheering on Jeff and Freddy.

One wrote on X: “Enjoyed watching @JeffBrazier & Freddie Brazier on the first episode of @RATW_official.”

Another added: “Reckon I’m rooting for the Braziers, though the Parisis will be interesting. #CelebrityRaceAcrossTheWorld.”

A fan said: "Jeff and Freddie for the win…they're so lovely."

Someone else wrote: “Never watched  #CelebrityRaceAcrossTheWorld before. But just loved that 1st episode. We are definitely team Jeff & Freddie in this house @JeffBrazier Think it’s gonna be emotional.”

A viewer said: “What a great start! Hooked again and already expecting some heart rendering moments with Jeff and Freddie! Jury still out on Kelly! 🤷‍♀️ but great dynamic with Scott and Sam.”

A fan said: “Great start to #CelebrityRaceAcrossTheWorld want either Jeff and Freddie or Scott and Sam to win!!”

One viewer added: “Loving the new episode. I am hooked already!! My favourite[s are] Kelly and Jeremy to win 🏆 ❤️”

Celebrity Race Across The World is a spin-off of Race Across The World, the most recent series of which ended in May.
