Blake Lively's latest film knocks Ryan Reynolds' superhero hit from the top spot, and his response is nothing short of superhuman.

Marvel and Deadpool fans couldn't have seen coming, Blake Lively’s new film It Ends With Us has outperformed her husband Ryan Reynolds’ latest Marvel mashup, Deadpool & Wolverine, at the box office.

The romantic drama, based on Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel, premiered on August 9 and quickly surged past the superhero sequel, leaving Ryan with only one thing to say: "The only time in my life I've ever dreamt of coming in second."

Speaking with Sunday Today, the Canadian actor didn’t hold back his admiration for his wife's success.

"It's always been the constant with Blake and [me] — that we really root for each other," he shared, showing that even the Merc with a Mouth knows when it’s time to zip it and support his better half.

While Ryan’s Deadpool might be all about cutting quips and slicing through bad guys, his real-life relationship with Blake is all about love, support, and the occasional box office showdown.

“It’s the sign of a good relationship,” Reynolds added, proving once again that behind every superhero is a super supportive spouse.

But the drama doesn’t stop there. According to TMZ, Blake’s been keeping her lips sealed on a rumoured feud with It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni.

The whispers from the set suggest that tension was brewing faster than Deadpool can regenerate a lost limb.

Sources claim Blake felt “fat-shamed” by Justin, and things got even frostier during a certain kissing scene that reportedly lingered a bit too long for Lively’s liking.

From the start, insiders say the film’s set was divided into two camps: Team Blake and Team Justin. It seems the behind-the-scenes tension matched the on-screen drama, with creative clashes leading to the pair barely speaking by the end of filming.

Despite the off-screen drama, It Ends With Us soared past the $100 million mark globally in its first week, proving that even a little backstage bickering couldn’t stop Blake from slaying the box office.

As for Ryan, Deadpool & Wolverine still managed to claw in a hefty $205 million domestically and $233.3 million internationally since its release on July 26.

But even with the world going wild for the dynamic duo of Deadpool and Wolverine, it’s Blake who’s currently sitting on top of the cinematic food chain.

So, while Deadpool might heal from any wound, it seems Ryan Reynolds is more than happy to let his wife's success take centre stage this time around.

Both It Ends With Us and Deadpool & Wolverine are in cinemas now.
