Celebrity Race Across the World stars Kola Bokinni and Mary Ellen have teased what’s ahead for viewers of the popular BBC show.

Speaking exclusively with virginradio.co.uk about their time on the competition ahead of episode three airing tomorrow night (28th August), both the Ted Lasso star and his cousin warned there would be bad times as well as further causes for celebration up ahead.

Kola and Mary Ellen’s Race Across the World journey got off to a challenging start after the pair enjoyed the first leg of their journey a little too much, and ended up arriving at the first checkpoint over 12 hours behind the rest of season two’s celebrity teams.

But after a far more focused second week of travelling across Brazil, Kola and Mary Ellen impressively won back time on their journey and made it to the second checkpoint just after the series’ current leaders, Jeff and Freddy Brazier.

Now, the pair have teased that the rest of the show will reveal that their journey continues to be “a big roller coaster” from start to finish.

“Let’s just say that it’s not all caipirinhas and samba nights and sunshine,” Kola explained. “There’s some horrid weather, there’s lots of moments that are like ‘How the hell did we figure that out?’

“There’s a lot of moments that I regret,” he also admitted. “Because I’m like ‘Yeah, that was silly, what I just did there.’ But also a lot of moments that I really cherish.”

Mary Ellen added: “Race Across the World is just one big roller coaster, honestly. We’ve had our fun first leg, the second leg we had to race… but yeah, I think the episodes to come, especially three and four, it’s when we really- things don’t go our way.

“We’re tested,” she added. “We’re grating on one another, so emotions are running high. But also at the end of that, because of the way me and Kola are, we also just make the best out of any kind of bad situation…

“We have a lot of fun in episode three,” she revealed, sharing: “I think it might be my favourite. And then episode four, it’s like again. Episode three kind of started off rocky then we had a high. And then episode four is like [another shift].”

Celebrity Race Across the World returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer tomorrow (28th August) at 9pm.
