In May, co-creators Ruth Jones and James Corden sent fans wild with news that the beloved BBC sitcom would return for one final ever episode on Christmas Day 2024.
Now, the latter has shared a photo from behind the scenes, as has the official BBC Instagram account.

The BBC has shared a photo of a clapperboard from the first day of filming for the much-anticipated finale.
“Oh. My. Christ.” the caption reads. “The final episode of Gavin & Stacey started filming today. Truth be told, we’re a little bit excited.”
Meanwhile, Smithy actor Corden also took to Instagram to post a picture from the show’s production.
The photo show’s his character’s trusty motor, which he uses for his business. The words “Smithy’s - if your husband won’t do it, I will… Tilin, Roofin, Plasterin, Feng Shui” can be seen on the back window.
Captioning the image, the award-winning writer and actor wrote: “Day 1. Here we go x”
When James joined The Chris Evans Breakfast Show earlier this year, he spoke about completing the final script with his pal Ruth Jones. He said: “We just sat last night and we were like, ‘That's it now. We've finished writing. We'll never write anything that Pam says again. We’ll never write Interior: Gwen's house. Will never come up with an interesting thing that Bryn has done,’ and we just looked at each other and we were just like, ‘Isn't that amazing, to even have to even have the luxury of deciding to end it?’.
“To even have the luxury and to be in a position where people still care, it's inconceivable to us all of it. I just feel very emotional by all of it, you know? Everything!”
Meanwhile, Uncle Bryn actor Rob Brydon joined the Christ Evans Breakfast Show live at CarFest over the August Bank Holiday, and explained that he was “moved to tears,” when he read the script, “because it's emotional.”
On teaming up again with his Gavin & Stacey pals, the Would I Lie to You? star added: “I know this will be the last time we'll all be together.”
Rob also posted a picture of himself with Jones together. “Something’s occurring…” he wrote. Have a look here.
The Gavin and Stacey 2024 Christmas special will air on BBC One on 25th December.
