Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (6th September)

Starting the month off strong is Tim Burton’s much-anticipated sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which follows the director’s first story of life and the afterlife in Winter River, Connecticut, which was released 36 years ago.

Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara all return to star in this film, which the director has described as a “surprisingly emotional” experiece to film. Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci, Justin Theroux and Willem Dafoe have all also joined the cast for 'The Juice'’s second on-screen outing.

The Critic (13th September)

Ian McKellen, Gemma Arterton, Mark Strong and Lesley Manville star in this period thriller from the same pen that brought us 2006’s Notes on a Scandal.

In The Critic, McKellen stars as unapologetic gay 1930s theatre critic Jimmy Erskine, who becomes entangled in a web of deceit and murder alongside actress Nina Land (Arterton) after previously lambasting her in several mean-spirited reviews.

Lee (13th September)

In Lee, Kate Winslet takes centre stage as famed Vogue fashion-turned-World War II photographer Lee Miller.

Marion Cotillard, Andy Samberg and Josh O’Connor all also star in the biopic, a Sky Original film which is receiving a theatrical release this month.

The Outrun (27th September)

Saoirse Ronan stars a woman who has recently left rehab for alcoholism in this drama film from German filmmaker Nora Fingscheidt.

The Outrun follows Rona (Ronan) on her return to her home in the Orkney Islands and shows her struggles to rebuild her life after a decade of troubled times. It also stars Slow Horses’ Saskia Reeves, Paapa Essiedu and Lauren Lyle.

Megalopolis (27th September)

This science-fiction drama film from Francis Ford Coppola tells the story of a decaying metropolis called New Rome.

Adam Driver stars as time-bending architect Cesar Catilina, who aims to rebuild New Rome as a thriving yet sustainable utopia, and who comes into conflict with Giancarlo Esposito’s Mayor Franklyn Cicero as a result. Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf and Laurence Fishburne all also star.

The film has however been marred by recent allegations of misconduct surrounding Coppola’s behaviour with extras on set.
