Davina McCall has opened up about what fans can expect from My Mum, Your Dad season two.
Speaking with virginradio.co.uk and other press at the single parents dating show’s season two launch event, the proud programme host teased the emotional themes which would be at the heart of the next series.
“There are some big themes in this series, and one of them would be loneliness. Trust is another big one,” the former Big Brother host revealed.

Sharing that some of the moments in this series which deal with these themes left her “heartbroken” for the show’s new singles, McCall added: “These are things that are a bit embarrassing, I think.
“As an exuberant, midlife, attractive, fun person, [having to say] ‘Yeah, I feel a bit lonely’. It’s hard saying that,” she said.
My Mum, Your Dad season two is set to begin airing on ITV1 and ITVX later this month, but viewers have already met this year’s first eight stars and their children in a trailer which was released in August.
Opening up about what the My Mum, Your Dad experience is like for the show’s singletons, McCall explained: “Every action, or every kind of habit that you have, or hang up or trauma based behaviour will be something that is put under a magnifying glass in the retreat.
“It’s a very supportive place,” she added. “But you cannot hide anything. You are stripped bare in there. [But] its a very healing experience for all of them, I think.”
During her Q&A at the season two launch event, the TV presenter also stressed how the team behind My Mum, Your Dad “like to call it a relationship show rather than a dating show, because it’s more than a dating show.
“It’s multi-layered. So I think a relationship show is such a nice way of saying it, because it’s not just about the matching,” she said. “We do find deep connections this series, but [it’s also about] watching the relationships between parent and child.”
My Mum, Your Dad will return to ITV1 and ITVX later this month.
