Frontman of The 1975 Matty Healy made a passionate and emotional speech last night during the band's first performance at The O2 in London.
He asked young people to show "compassion and understanding" in light of the Brexit vote and Presidential election result.
Healy said: "A lot of these people who voted against what I believe the majority of us stand for, most of those people are so disenfranchised by political systems that they wanted a change."
The singer added that he was saddened by “young progressive voices” being “drowned out by regressive ideals."
Crowds cheered as he made the short but impactful speech during the introduction of .
He also spoke about the time the band had spent in America, saying: "We’ve been in America for three months, that was f***ed up," in reference to Donald Trump.
"It’s an amazing place full of young, compassionate liberal people like yourselves."
