Coldplay's Chris Martin dedicates surprise performance at homeless shelter to George Michael

Coldplay's Chris Martin has dedicated a surprise performance at a homeless shelter to George Michael.

Michael died on Christmas day after suffering heart failure, and his death has sparked a huge outpouring of emotion.

Martin performed on Tuesday for staff, volunteers and those in need at a Crisis shelter.

The Telegraph reported that he played a cover of Wham!'s  dedicated to the singer.

Volunteers posted message on social media describing their surprise when Martin came to the shelter, in what appears to have been a touching and hugely well-received gesture.
