Audioslave and Soundgarden have posted black images on their social media accounts to pay their respects to Chris Cornell.

Cornell, who fronted both bands, was found dead in his hotel room in Detroit on May 17.

He was 52 years old, and the death is being treated as a suicide.

Soundgarden have uploaded plain black images to the band's Facebook and Twitter pages as a tribute to him, a gesture Audioslave soon followed.

The former had reportedly been working on a new album prior to Cornell's death.
