According to the International Federation Of The Phonographic Industry (IFPI), Ed Sheeran has been named the world's best-selling musician for 2017

He released his third album Divide last album and with 2.7 million units sold, it’s not hard to see why he gained that accolade.

The IFPI say they look at "an artist's worldwide success across digital and physical music formats, from streams to vinyl".

Sheeran is the only British musician in the top 10 compiled by IFPI, with others in the list including Imagine Dragons and Linkin Park.

After gaining last year’s Christmas number one with his track Perfect, and being awarded an MBE – it’s fair to say that 2017 was definitely Ed’s year.
