We take a look back at Eddy Temple-Morris interviewing the Smashing Pumpkins twenty years ago.

Smashing Pumpkins formed in 1988 and are an American alternative rock band from Chicago, Illinois.

The band was formed by frontman Billy Corgan (lead vocals, guitar), D'arcy Wretzky (bass guitar), James Iha (guitar), and Jimmy Chamberlin (drums).

Twenty years ago Eddy Temple-Morris interviewed the band, "I was really proud of this interview, I got Billy, James and Darcy laughing in really difficult circumstances. The MTV News journalist who was ahead of me in the queue was thrown out after all of thirty seconds. He asked the most thoughtless and insensitive question he could possibly have asked and I could have cut the tension in that room with a rusty butter knife when I walked in there. Thank heavens all my research and a genuine love for this band made for an interview they really enjoyed and shared on their VEVO years later. I’m so delighted to be playing their new single ‘Silvery Sometimes’ as my Record Of The Week, I think it’s the most instantly lovable tune they’ve put out there since 1979 which is one of my favourite singles of all time".

The band have announced a UK show for their new 30th anniversary tour, for more details click here

The current lineup features Corgan, Chamberlin, Iha and guitarist Jeff Schroeder.
