Ed Sheeran's crowned the UK's 'artist of the decade'

Sheeran has had 12 number one albums and singles during the decade.

The Official Charts Company has named Ed Sheeran the UK's 'artist of the decade' as the year draws to a close. 

Since Sheeran's emergence in 2011 with debut album '+', the musician has seen great commerical success over the course of the last 10 years. 

Along with 12 number one albums and singles, Sheeran has also racked up 79 weeks at the top of both the albums and the singles charts. 

'Shape Of You', one of the most iconic songs of the decade, spent 14 weeks at number one, and sold 4.5m copies. The artist has also been streamed 4.6 billion times in the UK.
